Water

And he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Revelation 22:1

Keeping hydrated is crucial for health and well-being, but many people do not consume enough fluids each day.  About 60% of the body is made up of water (75% in children) and our blood is 90% water.

Water lubricates the joints.  Cartilage, found in joints and the disks of the spine, contains around 80% water.

The digestive system depends on it to avoid constipation and an overly acidic stomach, which leads to heartburn and stomach ulcers.

Water is involved in the production of hormones and neurotransmitters.  Prolonged dehydration can lead to problems with thinking and reasoning.

It regulates body temperature.  It flushes body waste, helps maintain blood pressure, helps you breathe, and prevents kidney damage and kidney stones.  It boosts exercise performance and can help with weight loss.  Water may also help prevent and treat headaches as well as skin disorders and wrinkling.

Just being around water can lower blood pressure, decrease stress, bring on relaxation, improve creativity, and bring about a general sense of happiness.  Listening to a babbling brook or ocean waves calms an anxious heart.
